New Recording Completed - July 7, 2010
I'm back home in Melbourne, I've spent the last couple of weeks up in QLD recording my next EP with Brendan Anthony. Everything ran smoothly, we had no hiccups and it's sounding great! I wanted this recording to emulate my current gigging style, more laid back and acoustic. Brendan still has to finish off some keys (due to an out of tune piano) and will start mixing the record next week.
I'm really proud of the songs we recorded. One of the days, when recording guitars, there was about 10 different guitars in the studio, maybe even more than that. I think my favorite was one of Brendan's guitars nicknamed "Elvis". It's an old 50's acoustic guitar with a jangly kind of sound. We used that one a couple of tracks. Ah the Elvis! We also used my late grandfather's 1930's Gibson acoustic - I think he'd be chuffed it was used for a recording. Oh and we also used an acoustic that Ian Moss (cold chisel) gave Brendan. That's right - I've now played a guitar that Ian Moss played - I have his guitar germs (hopefully skills can be passed through guitar germs).
Overall I'm really excited about this recording. I think you'll like it! It's in the same vein as The Waifs / Missy Higgins. Acoustic and lovely.
A big thanks to all the musicians who leant their musicial talent!
